Club News For Silicon Valley       Updated - June 22, 2010

6/22/10

New Ambassadors:

Jolyn Silva,
Marla Forcht,
Dennis Chiu,
Kate Moss and
Susan Wigley

Congratulations on helping our club become even more successful!

We hope that even more members will come forward and request to become Ambassadors. The success of the club--and your personal successs--depends on your involvement.

Welcome Tamara Adams to the club! Tamara is an Aolette Representative and we're glad to have her as part of our team.

We've all been tasked in helping our club double it's membership in the next few weeks. To accomplish this we'll all be inviting at least 3 people to attend the 7/13 meeting, and then following up with them the Friday or Monday just prior to the meeting. Even if the majority of the invitees don't attend, a good number will, and we should have a large number of guests for our Ambassadors to greet and follow-up with.

Remember, the focus is to invite at least 3 people, and let go of worrying about the outcome.

6/8/10

Happy Birthday Tina, Susan, Deb and Rita!

Happy Graduation Tina!

New Club Policies:

Ambassador positions and Club Elections news:

The Directors have decided to create a new, informal positon in the club--Ambassadors! Becoming an Ambassador will allow members to get a taste of Director duties in order to see if they'd like to step into a Director position at some future date. The Ambassador duties will change and grow over time, but for now it is defined as 1. greeting guests and helping them feel welcome, 2. following-up with guests in the weeks after they attend and getting their input while encouraging them to return 3. Acting as mentors for newly voted-in members, 4. Stepping in for a Director who can't attend a meeting 5. Helping Directors with tasks as requested.

Even if you don't think you want to be a Director in the future you may become an Ambassador. This is a way to participate in the club and further you success....and the success of others!

The Directors have decided that an Election will be held the last meeting of October with the new Directors taking office the first meeting of January each year. We usually have one meeting in November and one meeting in December, and the new Directors will shadow the old Directors for those two meetings. All of the positions will not turn over in a single year; instead, some Directors will step down, some Directors will change positions, and some positions will be filled by people voted in to Director positions. More information will be given as we get closer to the date, but for now you need to be thinking if you'd like to be an Amabassador in prep for the election in October.

New Club Rules:

As you are aware - the Directors had a separate meeting after our last MRC group meeting. Below are topics that were discussed and voted on amongst all Directors. The following new rules will be instituted commencing the next MRC meeting on June 8th, 2010.

1. If any member or director is late to a MRC group meeting - that member or director shall lose their 1st 30-second commercial. That member or director is still entitled to their second 30-second commercial.

2. If any member or director misses a meeting there will be a $5.00 charge. There will be no excuses. We debated much about excused and unexcused and determined to just make a solid line in the sand and keep it clean - you're either there or not. With only 22 to 24 meetings a year this should not be a hardship on anyone, and it will help us all keep accountable to the group. Aaron Sessions will track and collect fees directly. Rest assured - these funds in the future will go to a great cause - it will pay us all back by paying for supplies (such as envelopes for new member packets) or by having an event - or lunch or something that the team agrees upon.

3. Beginning June 1 (12 month time span) - If a member or director misses 5 meetings annually - their membership is subject to review by the directors for replacement.

Just to reiterate here - we do not want to put in place rules as any sort of punishment - missing meetings is only a detriment to you as a member, and it makes the group appear unprofessional. Accountability to the group and to each other will only help us all make more money!

All the best,
Your Directors

Member News:

Pol VanRhee is holding lunch meetings on Tuesdays at a hotel all summer showing his chocolate, so he will no longer be attening MRC in the chocolate category. Once summer is over he may consider returning in a different category. He says that he enjoys each and every member of the club and that he will continue to refer to you, and that he hopes you'll stay in touch with him.

Lynn Deglin has had a change in work schedule and can no longer attend on Tuesdays. We will miss her smiling face and terrific input as a Director! Lynn echoes Pol's sentiment in letting us know how much she likes all the members and will continue to refer to them, and she hopes that we will all continue to refer to her as well.
